Pumpkins!

Image
We finally had a chance to carve pumpkins. This year Gabe did his entirely by himself. Josy was able to do about half of it. I had to clean out the guts for him and once I had most of the face on, he added a bunch of embellishments, all by himself. I’m guessing that next year he’ll do it entirely by himself and I’ll just be there minding my own business… Also, these pictures loaded backwards and it’s a pain to fix, so you get the finished product first. And yes, one of the pumpkins has three eyes and a butt.

A Weekend Away

Every once in awhile, it’s good to get away and catch up with some old friends from a long time ago. We met when we lived in the same floor freshman year, but here we are, more than 20 years later.

The Leaf Project

Image
Well, fall is here, which means that it’s about time to do the leaf project. But the kids haven’t been as enthusiastic lately, so I was about to ask Gabe if he really cared, when he saw a leaf on the ground and announced that we should collect it for our project. Okay, then. I guess we’re doing this. He collected leaves, even taking his bike out to get leaves from some specific trees that he had in mind. Yesterday the leaves were all dry and pressed, so we pulled out the crayons and got to work. This was actually the first year that all three kids made leaves. Usually it’s just Gabe. Josy didn’t last long, but he made a couple. And even Bella decided to join in. Then they all fought over who got to put the leaves where. In true Josy fashion, I found one on the mirror in the bathroom… But my windows are now all decorated for fall!

Rock Climbing

Image
Last week we went to a birthday party at the rock wall. Gabe loved it! I could definitely see him getting into climbing. He can fly up some of those walls! At one point he was asking me to do time him so he could try and beat his previous time. Josy, on the other hand, was not interested in climbing at all until everyone else was packing up to leave. And this is as far as he made it up, and my friends foreign exchange student picked him up and put him that high. Lets just say that the boys have very different personalities…

Josyisms

Josy is a funny little boy. The things that come out of his mouth are the best. And sometimes he describes things in a really funny way. Yesterday we went on a bike ride and there was a worm on the plastic wind cover, but he kept telling me that there was a worm on the windshield and it took me a while to figure it what he was talking about. I thought he saw a stick on a car’s windshield that we drive past… J: We need to get out our Halloween decorations. M: Oh, we already did. J: Where are they??? M: We don’t have any. So they’re already out. J: We need to get some! M: No. I don’t do anything scary. J: It’s not scary. It’s just a pot. M: What? J: The pot at Home Depot, with the fake blood. We need to get it. M: No J: It does not give me nightmares. The guy with the beak and the goggles, that gave me nightmares. ———— J: It would be cool if my lunchbox had batteries! Then I could play video games! M: That would be weird. J: Not weird. Awesome. Then I could play video games all the time.
