Planning Ahead

Image
Grandpa promised Gabe that he'd take him to Disneyland in 5 years, so Gabe decided he needed to practice for the infamous Sword in the Stone photo shoot. Other excitement for the day: trying on Dad's hat:

Lactation Graduation

Image
My little chunky monkey is now up to 8lbs 5oz! He's now bigger than I was when I was a baby! :) Check out those fat rolls! Today Gabe graduated from lactation! Clearly he's eating enough, so we don't need to visit the lactation consultant any more. The consultant was actually bummed that she won't get to see him anymore, but she found a couple of the other ladies at the hospital to come and sing him the graduation song. :)

The Downside of a Big Sister

Image
Poor Gabe has already discovered the downside of having a big sister. Either that, Bella has discovered the advantage of having a living, breathing doll to play with. Either way, Gabe now has a faux hawk, curtesy of Bella... He is not amused...

A Date

Pat and I went on a date tonight! Our first date since coming home with Gabe! The kids stayed with Grandma and apparently had so much fun that the youngest is still up and it's after midnight... Oh well. It was good to have a date just the two of us. In other news, Gabe had an appointment with the pediatrition this week and he was up to 7lbs 10oz, which means that he's gained 7 ounces in 4 days. She decided that he's clearly gaining weight well and we no longer need to fortify his bottles during the night. We'll still feed him bottles during the night (mostly so that dad can get up with him at night also...) but it'll just be breastmilk now, no formula added to the breastmilk. Beyond that, all is well. It was not well this afternoon when someone spit up all over my face, but that's a different story...

Just Because

4 Months Old

Image
My little Gabe is now 4 months old! I just posted this on facebook: Age: 4 Months Home: 1 Month Adjusted Age: Newborn What I did not post was what happened during the photoshoot... The moose punched him in the face. The moose must have a good punch because it knocked him over! So Gabe tried to eat him. They tried to hug it out, but it didn't work... So Gabe made a run for it.

A New Reality

Today was a rough day. Nothing terrible happened, it was just a reminder that as well as Gabe has done, he is still a micropreemie and he now lives by a different set of rules. This afternoon, I fed Gabe and then he was snuggling on my shoulder when he spit up. He's not a huge spitter, but it definitely happens. Then he spit up again. And again. He spit up 7 times in 40 minutes, which seemed like a bit much. I texted the pediatrition to just ask if this was something to worry about and she told me to bring him in. After an exam, the doctor concluded that there was nothing wrong and he just needed to spit up that much. However, because of his history in the nicu and the list of digestive problems nicu babies can have, she gave me a list of things to watch out for and said that he definitely needed checked out to rule out all sorts of nasty things. So far, he's had absolutely none of them and he's fine. But it did scare me, not the spitting up so much, but the realization tha

7 Pounds

Gabe's officially up to 7 pounds today!  That's two pounds over his discharge weight!

Due Date

Image
Yesterday was Gabe's due date. It's strange to think that I should be sitting in the hospital right now with my brand new little baby. Instead I have a nearly four month old little baby who spent three months in the hospital and then nearly a month home. Gabe has grown up a lot in the last four months. Day 1, 2 Months and 3 Months 1 Month, 2 Months, 3 Months

A Quick Trip

Image
Since Gabe was born, Gram (my Grandma) has had a heart attack, two stint surgeries and another emergency trip to the hospital. Basically, she decided to give us a scare! As such, Gabe felt the need to check on her and make sure that all is well. :) Tuesday, Grandpa (my Dad), Gabe and I flew to Seattle. Auntie Katilyn flew up, so she got to meet Gabe for the first time. I wasn't sure that I was going to get him back from her... :) We spent the night at my Aunt and Uncle's house, and all of my cousins were excited to get to hold him. I only have a picture of one them with Gabe... Then yesterday we drove up to see Gram and Gramps, as well as Auntie Peach and Auntie Ginger. I think it's safe to say that they were all smitten!

A Double Chin

Image
Look who now has a double chin??? This is my little baby who took forever to hit two pounds and now he has neck rolls. It's crazy! We're in Seattle tonight. It's a quick trip, but we had some family to meet. I'll fill in more tomorrow.

Clothes

Image
I know that his preemie clothes are too small, but his newborn ones are huge! Today he wore a newborn onesie with preemie pants. That may have beeb a mistake. He kindof looks like a cartoon character, big belly and tiny legs! In other news, he's officially 6lbs 3oz!

The End of an Era

We have reached the end of an era. Gabe is wearing his only preemie outfit that still fits. (I secretly wonder if it's actually newborn rather than preemie...) He was wearing a cute little preemie sleeper with bears all over it after his bath tonight. When I got him up to feed him a few minutes ago, I noticed how cute he looked in it, even though it was clearly too small. I was going to take a picture of it, since it'll be the last time he gets to wear it, but I decided to do it tomorrow instead of right then. Well, then he peed all over it. I guess I should've taken the picture...
