Catching Up On Life…

Image
So much to catch up on... Gram, Gramps and I finished up Walk Southeast!  Gram actually made it the entire way.  Gramps and I did not...  But we made it far enough to get the shirt and isn't that really what it's all about??? We got the playroom all set up, now that the crib and the chair are gone.  We had a massive empty wall, so naturally the best thing to fill it with is Mariner's posters from when I was a kid.  Gabe loves it!  Actually, so does Josy... Apparently throwing a sticky alligator at the ceiling and then batting it when it falls down is the best game ever. The cats have been dealing with fleas.  I think we've gotten it mostly dealt with, but it definitely made the cats not feel well.  I mean, Lucy is willingly snuggling with Josy.  That says a lot about how she bad she feels... It was a beautiful day, so why not stop at the park on the way home??? Pat and I managed to get away for a night and went to see Hamilton!! Gabe lost his first tooth.  He was so exc

A Pirate Village

Gabe’s creativity astounds me. I don’t know where he gets it, but he definitely has the ability to come up with elaborate things in his head and then figure out how to make them work. For the last couple of days, he’s been making boats out of construction paper at school. Yesterday he made a boat,  life boat, a cannon and a person. When he got home, get added a beach, a tent, a fire, a treasure chest, a map and a shovel. Then he told me an elaborate story: Once upon a time there was a pirates who was sailing on his ship. Then he saw land. He got off his boat onto his rowboat. Then he got off his rowboat and searched for the treasure. He set up a camp on the island. He found the treasure. The end.

An Update

I've been having some issues with the blog.  It turns out that the app that I've been using to post things has saved the pictures in a spot on the google drive that routinely gets deleted.  So now I have to go back and re-upload every single picture from every post since April.  I'm not super excited about that project.  And I'm assuming that as soon as I start that, all of the updated posts will be at the top again, so it's going to look very confusing.  So, that's fun. Also, now I need a new way to write posts...

The Big Race

Image
I have spent all summer training for the big relay race that I do every year. This year I got the 16 mile leg, so I was trying to get in as much distance as I could, as I’ve never run further than a half marathon before. When I ran the half marathon at the end of July, my foot bugged me. It wasn’t crazy pain, it just didn’t feel right. I kept adjusting my shoe, thinking that somehow me new shoe wasn’t tied right or something. I couldn’t get it figured it, but I finished the race and I was fine. Three weeks before the relay race, I did an 8 mile run with some crazy hills in it and my toe was bugging me again. But this time it didn’t just stop when I stopped running. So I took a week off to see if it could get better. A week later I went to the doctor and discovered that I had multiple stress fractures on my foot. Lovely… I spent two weeks stressing out about what to do. I bought new running shoes (the new ones that I’d bought before the half marathon were the problem!) that I wore const

Hedgehog

Josy made a hedgehog at school. He’s super proud of it and the fact that it has three eyes!! It’s adorable and will now live on the windowsill next to the cat that Bella made in early elementary school also.

First Big Puzzle!

This weekend Gabe pulled out a 100 piece puzzle and finished it all by himself. So he asked me what the next step up in puzzles was. I told him it was 500, which we happened to have a couple of. Since yesterday was a holiday, he and I pulled out one. This may have stretched his attention span a bit, but he did a great job and we got the whole thing done in just a couple of hours. I definitely have a new puzzle buddy!!
