Opening Day

Image
Yesterday was Opening Day. Gabe’s been counting down since the last day of baseball last year. And Josy is super excited to play tball for the first time! Pat got to lead Josy’s team onto the field and the official photographer got a great picture of it.

Catchup: Excessive Silliness

He wanted to go to school like this. I eventually convinced him that it was raining and his sock would get wet. I think they’re too big for that rocking horse. They both want to sleep in the car. Gabe wakes up with his legs all cramped because it’s too small, but Josy hasn’t complained yet. He does not understand the actual rules of “Warship.” It makes it easier and harder… Josy and I rode our bikes to pick up Gabe. He did not want to sit in the seat next to Josy thankyouverymuch. Halfway home, after much complaining, I made him move to the seat. He really wanted breakfast at the counter. Free hot dog lunch at the hardware store! These boys love their daddy! Gabe got a helmet from Dad’s office, so he needed to become Dad. The neighbors dog escaped and joined the boys for lunch. Josy got to go the dentist on a field trip with his class. Apparently it was warm enough to wash the car? S’mores!

Catchup: Easter!

I asked all the kids if they wanted to get up for the Sunrise Service. 3 of the 4 wanted to, but when it was actually time to wake up, only two made it. Also, I’d been laying awake listening to it pour, so we should be impressed that I even tried… But all six of us made it to church and we had a lovely Easter service. Although we probably should have taken family pictures before Josy drank his berry smoothie…

Catching Up: Easter Egg Hunt

Image
I have not been good at posting the last couple of weeks. But been having extra kids and Pat working a lot, it just hasn’t happened… So I’m going to try and catch up on a lot of things! This was the yearly Easter egg hunt. It went much better than last year. There was significantly less grumpiness by all involved… Josy insisted on only getting red eggs. Even eggs with one half red were unacceptable. They had to be all red. So he only got three. Meanwhile, the competition in the field for three big kids was intense. 8-10 year olds are competitive! Gabe wanted his face painted. So we stood in a very long time…so he could get a mustache. They had fun. It was a good day.

Biking to School

Image
Gabe got a new bike. Apparently he’s done a while lot of growing since last year, so it was definitely time for a bigger bike. He loves it. And is so much easier for him to ride, rather than trying to keep up on the little tiny one. He loves it so much that he’s been begging me to let him ride his bike to school. Today the weather was nice and the schedule worked out, so we got up early and left the house at 7. I picked Josy up out of his bed and plopped him in the trailer and told him to keep sleeping. At one point he told me he was cold… We stopped him off at his friends house on the way, which gave Gabe and I a nice break too. Gabe did great. He did have one problem though. His hands were cold and the gloves he was wearing had no grip, so he couldn’t change gears. There were two pretty impressive hills and the poor kid was stuck in 5th gear the whole time! We ended up walking up the hills, which didn’t bother me at all… But we made it! He was worn out, but it was almost 4 miles and

A Car Wash

Image
Spring is finally here and it feels so good!! I mean, it still freezes overnight, which makes for sound very cold morning runs, but then it’s warm during the day. In fact, it was so warm, that Gabe wanted to run in the sprinkler. Pat had screwed the sprayer on so tight that I couldn’t get it off, which was the only reason he didn’t… Instead he decided to wash the car. I’m not going to say that the quality of the car wash was the best, but I will not complain about a kid wanting to wash my car. Yesterday there was a sports team doing a car wash fundraiser and I was going to take the car in, but Gabe was proud of his washing job, so we didn’t. I think my car is going to look like this for a while… Then we got dinner at the food trucks and headed home for a fire and s’mores.

Spring!
