Maui: Day 5

Today we did the Road to Hana!

When we were here the last time, we were staying in the other side of the island and we didn’t get an early enough start, so we made it part way down the road and then turned around. But this time, we really wanted do the whole road and get to the National Park on the other side of Haleakala. So we got there boys up early and left.

We didn’t make too many stops, but we definitely made a couple.

We also stopped for some amazing vegan coconut ice cream, which didn’t sound like it should be good, but it definitely was.

We had lunch in Hana and then continued to Kipahulu. Um, the road to Hana was a breeze compared to that road. It was so bad!! But we survived and we hiked up to the bamboo forest. We really wanted to go all the way up to the waterfall, but after looking at the clock when we got to the bamboo forest, we figured that we needed to turn around. No one wanted to be driving any of those roads in the dark…

We were pretty wiped out by the time we got back to Wailuku, but it was a really fun day.
