Jerome

We decided to escape the heat in Phoenix for a bit and head north. Yesterday we drove to Prescott, which was an absolutely adorable little town. We loved it! I didn’t take hardly any pictures, but maybe that’s because the town was too cute to stop and take pictures... We did have lunch at a saloon, although it all went over Gabe’s head. We also went to the museum where Gabe was super excited to say hi to a lizard. Funny story, we pulled into town and Pat and I start talking about the different things we see and Gabe suddenly announces “Guys. Davey Crockett is dead now.” Um, what? And yes he is... This morning we got up and headed for Jerome. That was a beautiful drive up through the mountains up to an abandoned mine and a ghost town. Pat and Gabe thought it was wonderful! I thought it was great too, but I don’t have the same obsession with trucks amd equipment... Also, we only let Gabe climb on two vehicles and those were before we saw the sign saying not to. ...

That Face...

Image
When we were here 2.5 years ago for Christmas, we got family pictures taken and then all went to lunch at a pizza place next door to the picture location. At that point, he was making this new silly face and I’d been trying the whole trip to get a good picture of it. Well, as we sat and ate pizza, Gabe made that face over and over. Last night we went back to that pizza place. And as I turned to look at Gabe and tell him to finish his pizza, he was making that face again. He never makes that face anymore. So I have no idea why he decided to randomly make it again, in the exact same restaurant...

Arizona

Image
We made it to Arizona! Let me back up. Back in January Pat had to pick his vacation days, so he picked the first two weeks of August. We didn’t know where to go or what to do, but we figured that we’d figure something out. Plus, until we knew if Josy was going to show up early, making any plans for anything was hard. Over the last few months we’ve had plenty of ideas about vacation, but with Josy being so little, I just didn’t have the headspace or time to plan something crazy. Plus, right now we only have one income due to the whole maternity leave thing and Josy doesn’t have a passport. We finally decided that the easiest option was to go to Phoenix and stay at my parents house (even though they’re at our house...). Yes, it does mean that we’re crazy to be here when it’s 115 degrees, but, well, that’s just how it worked out.  After we decided that, Bella decided that she’d rather not come with us. So Friday night we flew her up to stay with a friend for two weeks and Saturday...

More Fishing

I wasn’t able to post pictures of my last fishing trip in that last post, which is weird, but whatever. Gabe is so silly that those pictures need to be posted. It was a lot of fun to have special time just with Gabe.

Catching Up

Image
Before we head off on another adventure, I really need to catch up on cute pictures the last few weeks before they are lost forever... We went in a hike out to the waterfall. It’s crazy how far back the glacier has gone. At this rate, this might br Josy’s only trip!

2 Months Old

Image
I have no idea how Josy is now two months old. That is just crazy... And to honor the milestone, he decided to roll over for the first time last night. I am definitely not ready for him to be a mobile baby. That is just unacceptable. Other than that, he’s a pretty happy little guy. He’s definitely discovered smiling and there is no shortage of people in this house to make funny faces at him to get him to smile. That said, the other day he was smiling and cooing at a stuffed monkey, so he doesn’t have very discerning tastes quite yet. He’s officially up to 11lbs 6oz. I just checked Gabe’s baby book and he was 11lbs 4oz at 2 months adjusted. As much as I keep saying that Josy is a chunk, he’s really almost exactly where Gabe was. That said, his 3 month clothes are almost too small and I know that Gabe was wearing 3 months clothes at 9 months (5 adjusted), so maybe he has a long torso? There’s no way he’ll fit these clothes for another 3 months. I’m tempted to pull out 6 month clothes...

Blueberries and the Beach

Image
When I got up this morning, I was surprised to see that it was sunny out. Yesterday we didn’t leave the house, which was really nice after several crazy days in a row, so I wanted to take advantage of today’s sun. Bella and Grandma Jan already had plans to go blueberry picking, and it was a great day for that. They came home with great pictures and a pile of blueberries that will soon become blueberry muffins. They also brought back a blueberry branch so that Gabe can pick some, although I doubt any of those will end up  in the muffins... They boys and I decided to go out to the beach  for a picnic. I thought there would be more rock throwing and sand digging. Instead there was a lot of “laying on mom while we eat our picnic” and sleeping. Oh well. They’re only going to snuggle with me for a few short years, so I’m going to milk it for as long as I can...
