Another Day of Fishing

Image
We skipped church and went fishing! It was an amazingly beautiful day and being out on the water was a perfect way to enjoy it. We didn’t actually get any fish, which was lame, but it was still a great day. There was an amazing fog all over everything when we got out there, which gave everything an eerie feel, but also made for some amazing pictures. Gabe decided he needed to read Treasure Island. Because sure. Every 5 year old should have an interest in classic literature… The best part about early morning fishing? Donuts!! Pat caught a clam. He thought the flasher was a phone. Naptime wasn’t particularly successful, but we tried. The boys decided to swab the deck. This one is too cute for words. Gabe got to drive us home. Driving with both boys was significantly more complicated… I tried to get a picture of Bella and I. It was clearly a success. Josy was so tired after not napping on the boat that he fell asleep the moment we got in the car…

A New Street

Image
This week they replaced our street. It was supposed to be Tuesday to Thursday, but the weather was so bad that it got pushed out a few days. That worked out well for us because they’ve been working on it for the last few days before we went to school and I felt bad making the boys leave rather than watching the fun. However, with the bad weather, the whole project got delayed and they didn’t end up paving until Saturday, which was perfect! The neighbor had a better view (and popcorn!) so we spent all morning watching the action. Eventually we went back to our driveway so we didn’t end up stuck on the wrong side of the road when we needed to get dressed and go to tball. But by that point, our driveway was definitely the best view. It was pretty much a little boy’s dream Saturday morning.

Gabe’s First Dinner

Image
Yesterday morning, Gabe was reading his Clubhouse Jr magazine and found a recipe in there for Stuff Sea Shells. He immediately asked if we could make it. Since Pat was going to be out of town (and tries to avoid pasta), I figured it would be the perfect dinner for last night. Unfortunately, then I realized that I would need to get off work, pick up the boys, pick up Bella, go to the grocery store and make dinner, all before 7 when we had to be at small group. There’s no way that will happen, instead, we went to the grocery store and then went to McDonalds. We still managed to get home at 6:40, so it’sa good thing we weren’t trying to cook dinner also… Also, Pat was home, which surprised me, as he didn’t think there was any way that he was getting home last night. So, we decided to make our stuffed shells tonight and I told Gabe that he was in charge if cooking. I did the hard part, like boiling the noodles and steaming the broccoli, but Gabe did an amazing job of cooking the rest of it

Fishing

Uncle Dick and Aunt Hilary are in town, so we got to go fishing last night. We didn’t catch anything other than a tomcod, but it was a beautiful night out on the water and we all had fun. Gabe threw me off. He hasn’t been fishing in two years, but he still remembers all sorts of very specific details from last time. On our way out, he asked Dick why how he steered the boat while sitting on the back holding “that red thing.” How does he remember that??? Also, all of his pirate knowledge comes in handy on the boat. We were teasing about tying him to the ladder with a rope so that he wouldn’t fall off. His response? “You mean, like a rigging?” He also kept yelling “Cap! How’s it going on the lower deck?” and referred to Aunt Hilary as the Cabin Girl. Josy thought the boat was wonderful. There were so many things to play with that he had endless entertainment. He would walk up to the poles and just start reeling them up. He found the hose and was determined to use it to spray things off. H

Sick Kids

I need to catch up on a bunch of pictures, but it’s been a complicated week around here. Josy got set home from school last Wednesday because he was sick. Thursday, both boys were sick, although with opposite symptoms. Then they both had doctors appointments, strep tests and Covid tests, both of which came back negative. Gabe was fine later that day. Josy is still fighting with a stuffy nose a week later. Then on Saturday, Bella came home, and that had the whole house on edge. She left for camp on Monday, though, so she was really only home for two days so far. In other Josy news, tonight he was looking at a picture of himself on my phone, grinning and saying “You!” Silly kid… Also, they both got weighed at the doctor. Gabe is up to 29lbs and Josy is 25. And did I ever mention that Josy got a few new teeth? Both of his top canines popped through, so I think that’s all of his top teeth. And one of his front bottom ones popped through, so he now has three front bottom teeth, rather than
