Catching Up

Image
The last few weeks have been hard. A lot of people that we love have been going through really difficult things. Unexpected deaths. Expected deaths. Multiple friends with difficult diagnosis. Marriage crisis. Health emergencies that may or may not be serious. Mental health struggles. It’s been a lot of really hard things.  So I haven’t had the energy for blogging. But life goes on in the middle of the hard. And now I have a lot of life to catch up on. A friend send me this. It’s the best picture I’ve had off the three of them in a long time. Josy loves being a preschooler! Potty training is fun. But I think he’s finally gotten it down. He’s made friends with the chef at work and now he stops by every day for snacks. It was sunny so we decided to have a picnic after church. Um, it was sunny. But it was also very windy and cold. We didn’t last long. He loves his kitties. He may not always remember to be gentle, but he tries. We decided to pull out the fire pit. Eventually the entire coll

Gabe’s 3G Weekend

Image
A couple of months ago, plane tickets were super cheap, so Gram started plotting a special weekend away with Gabe. They decided it would be a 3G weekend: Gram, Gramps and Gabe.  Gabe didn’t find out about this until a week before the trip, which was probably a good idea. He was ridiculously excited, so I can’t imagine having to deal with him being that excited for longer than I did… He was so excited, in fact, that when I walked into his room to wake him up super early, he was sleeping outside of his tent and he instantly stood up and got dressed. Then we picked up Gram and Gramps and I took him to the airport and he grabbed his suitcase and headed into the airport without giving me a hug and a smooch! He and Gram managed to get upgraded to first class (sorry Gramps!). They got to drive up and see Great Gram and a bunch of his great aunts and uncles. The next day they went to a Mariners game… …and picked some flowers. I think that ice cream may have been involved as well. The last day

Josy

Poor Josy has a rough couple of weeks. Last week he was sick with a stomach bug and ended up with two rounds of it, 48 hours apart. Then this week he’s been better, but not quite. He was still off somehow. He was eating okay, but not the best. He wasn’t quite as happy as normal. Things weren’t flowing quite as well as they should be. And his belly has been really big. Pat and I were debating taking him to the doctor, but we couldn’t put our finger on an actual problem. Then on Friday, he said that he had to go to the bathroom, but he was clearly constipated. I took him to school and told them that he was probably going to need to use the bathroom. Then say noon, they called me to say that he’d been crying all morning and now has diarrhea. So I picked him up and called the doctor and a few minutes later we found ourselves in urgent care. He was excited to wear his doggie mask. He was not excited when they told him that he has to wear one of their disposable ones. Anyway, they looked him

Easter Fun

Image
We had all sorts of Easter fun this year. Well, some of us did. Josy managed to miss out on just about all of it… Gabe decorated Easter eggs! Unfortunately, for the second year in a row, Josy missed out because he refused to finish his dinner. In this case, it was 3 pieces of broccoli. We went to an Easter egg hunt, which Gabe thought was great. Unfortunately, Josy had a stomach bug and had to stay home. Sunday morning, Gabe and I went to the sunrise service, while the rest of the family slept. So maybe I should say that Gabe and I had all sorts of Easter fun this year and everyone else missed out. Hopefully next year Josy will be able to participate…
