A Day of Appointments

Image
Last week, we managed to have a day of doctors appointments. Don’t worry, all is well. We just needed to get some bloodwork done for Gabe and to get the boys checked for a heart defect that we just discovered that may be running around our family genetics. (Spoiler alert: Nope, they’re fine. But we just needed to check.) And since Gabe is in school now, we might as well get it all taken care of in one day. I didn’t know how the ultrasound would go. I figured that Gabe would be fine, but Josy might be a little hard to convince. So I figured that we’d bring Blanket and String and Timmy and that would make life easier. But I also knew that Gabe was not going to be okay with a blood draw. He’d already told me in no uncertain terms that he was never doing that again after the last one. So I told him that we’d get hot chocolate afterwards and that he could bring his snuggly guys. In my head, I thought that would be String and Timmy, maybe Perry too. No. He decided to bring all of them. But h

Worst Waffle Night Ever

Image
Tonight Gram and Gramps invited us over for waffles. Gram asked me to bring my waffle iron, as hers has been having some issues. No problem. The evening started out good. Josy was in charge of stirring the waffle mix. They were mixed very well… However, things went downhill from there. Gram’s waffle iron is definitely done. The next round refused to brown. Apparently the waffle iron that she got as a wedding present 44 years ago has finally made its last waffle. Luckily, I’d brought mine. However, it took three outlets before it would warm up. Finally it was hot and we made a round of waffles. It did not go well. That waffle was in there a long time and it never actually cooked. Apparently mine, which was also a wedding present, is also toast.  Someone tonight we managed to kill two waffle irons in one night. Both wedding presents. How is that even possible???

The First Day of School

Image
Yesterday was the first day of school. Bella was not excited at all, but I think I got the best first day of school picture that I’ve ever gotten out of her. 11th grade Gabe, on the other hand, was ridiculously excited. We got in the car and he yelled “Goody, goody, goody, goody!!!” the whole way to school. Josy was pretty convinced that since Gabe isn’t in kindergarten any more, he should get to go. Sorry kid, but no. You’ve got a couple of years to wait  I picked up Gabe after school and got the whole scoop. He had a wonderful day, school is amazing, and he made all sorts of friends. He has no idea what their names are, but that doesn’t matter. Bella thought school was terrible, but she thinks that about every school day, so that’s nothing new. Then I got a call from the daycare that Josy had a fever and I needed to pick him up. Poor kid just sat on my lap for a very long time, even though Gabe was watching TV in the other room, so he clearly didn’t feel good. So I’d say that this fi

Last weekend the city put together a fun activity where they got all sorts of heavy equipment together and let the kids play on it. How could I not take the boys to that??? They thought it was wonderful! It was also very loud. Someone should have disabled all of the horns before letting a bunch of kids play inside. If they do it next year, I’m bringing earplugs… Skid steer Snow plow No idea, but it was tiny Mini excavator  Trooper car Firetruck   Helicopter  Needless to say, nap time was very late and short, but it was today worth it.

Daddy’s Birthday

Image
This week was Pat’s birthday. He doesn’t care too much about birthdays, which is ridiculous, but we made sure to celebrate him anyway. We all met at daycare last night, where the boys showed off their matching “Dad’s outta this world!” Tshirts. Then we walked down to dinner, with Josy loudy yelling “It’s Daddy’s Birfday!!” the whole way. Lets just say that no passerby was in doubt of where we were going… Then we had dinner and opened presents at one of Pat’s favorite restaurants. After dinner we went home and had ice cream. Josy thought it was wonderful. Happy Birthday my Darling! We love you!

Sounds from my House…

Life at our house, in a nutshell: G: There’s a hole in my jacket. I’m pretty sure I got shot. I’m super proud of myself for not dying. M: That’s a burn from a campfire ember. Not a bullet wound. J: Mommy, we need to go in bacation. M: That would be fun. But we don’t have our stuff ready to go on vacation. J: We go get our stuff weady. Den we go in bacation. We have to. We have to go wight now! G: Do you know anyone that has $300? M: Most people have $300. G: And they’re not rich??? While playing pirates with Gabe… J: The pirates are going to die me! (Kill me) They’re going to take their sword out a der pockets and sword me on da foor!  J: My wunch (lunch) is too heavy. Me can’t cawy (carry) it. We need to go home and take out some of my wunch. Josy was making a very obnoxious noise in the car. M: Josy! Stop. What are you doing? It’s very loud. J (matter of factly): Me making woud (loud) noise in da car. I was singing along to a song on the radio. The song ended, the dj said something a

Auntie Peach

Image
Last weekend I flew down to go visit my entire extended family in order to celebrate the life of Auntie Peach. She passed away in April, but this was the first time that the family was able to ask get to together. It was really good. We spent a lot of time hanging out at her house with Great Gram, Allen, Melissa and Melody. Then we went to the service, where Gram and Gramps saw all sorts of people they hadn’t seen in forever. Katilyn and I knew almost no one, although we did get to finally meet my cousin Tommy’s fiancé. After the service, the whole family went out to dinner, and then Gram, Gramps, Katilyn and I stayed up very late taking at the hotel. Sunday morning we went to breakfast with Great Gram, Uncle Tom and Auntie Ginger. Then we dropped Katilyn at the airport and then went to hang out with Uncle Randy and Aunt Sandra for a while, before flying home. It was a good weekend with lots and lots of family.

Two Weeks at Home

Image
Gram has been watching Gabe all summer. I mean, she had as long as we’re haven’t been on vacation or we’ve had crazy amounts of family here or Katilyn has been here with Bryson. But the rest of the time, she had him. That plan worked great up until she and Gramps left town for two weeks. So I’vs spent the last two weeks working from home with Gabe.  I managed to come up with a bunch of playdate for him. We went to the new play area in town so I could use the wifi while he played. We went to the library for a few hours. We had working coffee dates (which also included coffee spilled all over my lap and ended up being less fun than they were supposed to be…). We made it through. But it was hard and I definitely prefer actually sitting in my office, rather than trying to work and entertain a six year old at the same time. Also, having to drop off Josy at school made things really interesting… He had a craft project he was working on that involved cups. He was trying to be creative to get
