Last summer, Gabe went to the eye doctor and the doctor discovered that he had very small optic nerves. This isn’t a big deal, but it could indicate that he has a small pituitary gland, so we needed to get an mri to check. If so, we may need to start talking about growth hormones. Gabe has always been tiny. We’ve never worried about it. My family has always been small, he started tiny and the kid never stops moving. But he’s the size of a four year old. I’ve had multiple people ask me if the boys are twins. He was the only kid in his class last year still using a 5 point harness car seat rather than a booster. He’s perfectly well proportioned, but everything about him is tiny. We’ve had lots of conversations about it. It doesn’t usually bother him, but sometimes kids say mean things, so we talk about the advantages of being small. He likes being small, which is great. But as much as he loves playing sports, his little tiny legs can’t keep up with the bigger boys. I’ve refused to sign h

The Last Week…

Image
This last week has been chaos. A little excitement in life is fun, but this week has been way over the top… Last Monday night, Gabe was brushing his teeth and managed to fall off of the counter straight in his forehead. He cried for a long time, but eventually he calmed down and got better, so we got him an ice  pack and put him to bed. Tuesday morning he woke up sick. He was lethargic, his head hurt and he felt nauseous. So I packed the boys up and took him to urgent care. Well, first I took him to get a covid test, which he needed for his appointment later in the week. Then I dropped Josy off at school and then took Gabe to the clinic. They took one look at him and sent us straight to the ER. After some needs to help with the nausea, he perked back up. They didn’t do a cat scan, but told us that enough time had passed that he’d probably be fine as long as he didn’t hit his head again in the next few days. They didn’t use the word concussion, but it was written in his discharge paperw

Life

Just catching up on life… P: you have got to be a punk rocker for Halloween sometime, because of your nose G: wait, what is a punk rocker? …. Is it a type of animal? Cathy made us some kombucha and it was so good that it may be inspiring some violence around our house as everyone wants to drink more. Josy is now walking saying “I will fight you for kombucha.” Does he have enough snuggly guys??? He is so proud of his new tool apron from Uncle Matt and Auntie Rachael! Catching up on his coffee on his way into the office… I finally got the house put back together after being gone. Part of that meant that I cleaned up all of Gabe’s art projects in the den. I love that he loves art projects, but, um, they are going to take over the whole house. He’s already told us that we need to build him a shed to house them all… Anyway, I went through all of his drawings, labeled them with the year that he did them, and stuck them in a folder. I’ve posted a bunch of them here because they’re really good

Pirate Love

Image
The pirate love is not completely gone! It just only does up every once in a while these days. And yesterday was one of those days, and that made me happy. I went upstairs to check on the boys and they were dressed like this. I asked to take their picture and Gabe decided that they had to pose in various pirate poses. Also, the dog in the pirates mask is downright creepy.

My Date

Image
Josy and I went out on a date. Gabe really wanted to go to an event at school, so Pat took him and Josy and I decided to go out just the of us.  We got waffles! I asked them how they were… When we got home, I told him that I’d he got dressed really fast, I’d let him watch Bluey. He never even noticed that he’d gotten dressed so fast he’d put his jammies on backwards… Pat and Gabe had a wonderful time at their school thing too. As much as I love all being together, it is fun to hang out with the boys one on one too.
