Catching Up

Image
Gabe made his own April Fool’s joke. He asked everyone if they wanted a brownie and then he handed them this. Oh Lucy. Such a pretty cat. This kid plopped into the chair in my office and announced “Tell me your work questions!” I asked him what the right number was for the project I’m working on and he informed me that “The number is one. Tell me your other work question.” He had a very definitive answer for that one too.  Apparently Josy will be answering all of my work calls from here on out. He picked his own outfit. The glasses complete the look. This is the definition of boys… I have no idea how sleeping like this is comfortable… We went on a walk and he found a cool stick. So naturally he had to bring it home… This picture just cracks me up. He looks like he’s showing up to the office on a Monday morning after a long weekend… The weather was amazing, so we picked up the extra kids and went to the park. It was superhero day at school. However rather than wearing his favorite Spid

String

Image
It’s been a rough week for String. First of all, there was an incident in the washing machine. Reverse crocheting is hard enough. But then Lucy made it more complicated. I got him all fixed and gave him to Gabe last night while he was sleeping.  Then today, I was painting Josy’s room and Gabe came in and announced that something terrible had happened. I have no idea how that happened. But guess what I get to do tonight… String might have to become just a snuggling blanket, not a playing blanket. Apparently he’s getting old.

Happy Easter!

Image
He is Risen! We had a lovely weekend celebrating Easter. On Friday night we went to the Good Friday service. We were all supposed to leave the service in silence, but doing anything with four kids in silence is rather complicated. We made it, but it was not easy… Saturday morning Pat had a meeting at church, so I took all the kids to the big Easter egg hunt by myself. I’m impressed that I brought all four of them home. Each of them was legit missing at one point in the morning. It’s a good thing we live in a nice town… There was much excitement when we got started, but the older kids didn’t get as many eggs as they expected and it caused some drama. As such, the only reasonable pictures I got were of Josy… I did make them take pictures with the Easter bunny, but one kid in particular is glaring so badly that I will not be posting that one on the internet for her world to see… Even hot chocolate, a cookie and a bouncy house did not cure that child’s attitude. Yesterday morning, Gabe, I,

Easter Eggs

Image
I have been waiting for years to get to do fun Easter eggs. But the boys have been little and anything more complicated than one color and stickers was too much. But this year, Gabe has gotten into art. In fact, he’s crazy into art. Suddenly making Easter eggs was a creative challenge. I should have thought of that when I bought the package… The draw-with-the-crayon thing didn’t work as well as I’d hoped. But he decided to just hold the eggs part way in the water, mixing colors and making elaborate half and half eggs. I was very impressed. It was hard to want to eat these.

Pretending it’s Spring

Image
I’m not convinced that spring is actually here (the fact that we keep waking up with snow might have something to do with it…), but it is warmer, the new snow didn’t stick and the giant piles of snow are disappearing rapidly. I’ll take it. The other day when it was nice and warm-ish, I took all four kids to the park while Pat made dinner. It was lovely. Also, apparently I started something because now Josy regularly asks if we can go to the park after school… While Josy and I waited for the others to show up, he insisted on “practicing sitting on the bleachers and watching baseball.” I think we’re all ready for spring…

A Girly Birthday!

Image
I haven’t celebrated a girly birthday in a very long time. Bella was here last year for her 16th birthday, but we didn’t do anything special (long story…). She was in TFC for her 14th and 15th birthdays, so we didn’t do anything to celebrate. So her 13th birthday, 4 years ago, was the last girly party we had. Well, I (the girl that’s living with us) turned 8 a couple of weeks so. I was a bit concerned that she’d be living with us for her birthday and not her own family and who wants to spend a birthday not with your mom?? So I bought cake mix for make cupcakes for her class, balloons to throw in her bedroom and we made ice cream for a birthday treat. Instead, she got hand, foot and mouth and spent the week at her house laying on the bed with her mom. So she’s missed school and all fun birthday things completely. She was sick for most of a week, but then she came back to our house…just in time for spring break. So this week, once we were back to school and normal line, I told her that w
