Doctor's Appointment

I took Gabe to the doctor this morning and he weighs 11lbs 4oz! That means 2oz more and he'll be up 10lbs from his birthweight! He's also 21 3/4in long. Seeing as he started out at 11 3/4in long, he's nearly doubled his length. No wonder he seems like he's getting so big!

Tomorrow we sign all the papers and all of this house stuff will be all official. I’m glad it will all be done! Even though everything is lining up exactly the way it should, I’m still paranoid that something is going to happen and this whole thing will fall apart. When the ink is dry, I think I’ll feel better. But tonight I went to the old house for the last time. And not surprisingly, it made me way more emotional that it probably should have. While we were dating, I sat at that bar for many hours talking while Pat cooked me dinner. That’s the room where Pat told Bella her mom had died. Pat proposed to me in the dining room. I sat on the couch for a month in the living room while on bedrest. And that’s the house where we brought our tiny baby home from the hospital. We’ve lived a lot of life in that house. It’s funny. My Silly Gabe...

G: Do we lick bowels? M: Only if they’re full of ice cream. G: You’re joking me! Every morning Gabe watches Blippi when he wakes up and I go back to bed. He’s allowed to watch only Blippi and if another show turns on, he had to turn it off or he looses his Blippi privileges. This morning he came bursting into our bedroom and says "Mommy, did I lose the privilege???" Apparently another show had turned on... Also, what three year old talks like that??? M: Bella is getting her braces off. G: And then she’ll be a mom? M: What? No. Getting your braces off and being a mom are not connected. G: That’s a bummer. We went to the grocery store and Gabe saw one of the driving carts in the parking lot and asked if we could use that cart. I told him that it was wet because of the rain, so he might get wet. Berlin Day 1

We made it to Berlin! We left at 5 Saturday morning and didn't get to Berlin until 4 Sunday afternoon, which made for a really long day of travel, but that's just the way it goes... We did have drama getting over here. On our flight from Seattle to Munich, we met the rudest person It've ever met on a flight. Seriously, I've been on a lot of flights in my life, but she was the worst. She was in the seat right behind me. I got kicked in the back and punched in the head. At one point, she stuck her foot on the armrest between Pat so far that her ankle was resting against Pat's side and we had to move our arms off the armrest. Then she put her other foot on the other armrest and her ankle was touching my other side. It was bad. It was behavior I'd expect from a little kid, not a little old lady.
