An Emotional Roller Coaster

Some weeks are just an emotional roller coaster and you want to say "What on earth just happened here???"  That has been the last week around here...

Last week Pat was out of town for work.  But he'd gotten the floor project done, so my job was to get the house back on the market.  It's a good thing that Gram was in town because deep cleaning a house after work with a toddler is a bit complicated.  Between a night of helping me clean and another night of a special Gabe-Gram date, we managed to have the house ready to go on Thursday.

On Friday, I got a message from my best work-friend (who was currently on vacation) saying that she'd accepted a new job.  I work in a pretty small office, so losing one person drastically changes the office dynamics.  But by the end of the day, the entire structure of the office had been rearranged and a new person had been basically hired.

Saturday morning, we got the house all cleaned up for our first open house since being back on the market.  Two hours later the realtor called to say that we had a full price offer.  We signed the papers on Sunday and started thinking about where we're going to go now, even scheduling appointments to look at houses.

On Tuesday night the realtor called to say that the buyer was backing out of the contract.

Wednesday was the last day at work for two of my coworkers.  One of them is retiring (although that's been planned for a while) and the other is taking this new job.  We spent the evening cleaning the house as we had a showing scheduled the next day.

This morning I had to leave the house spotless, which is always fun when you have a toddler.  Then I got to work and looked at the two empty offices (which is a lot considering the fact that there are only 9 of up to begin with...).  It's been a rough morning.  And then the new person showed up a few minutes later.

So in the last week, my emotions have been all over the place.  It's been a very strange week...

But in the midst of all of that, we did have time on Sunday for an important family tradition:  rolling bonbons and watching White Christmas.

Gabe was more interested in rolling snakes than bonbons...
