It’s a big day for Bella! The braces are gone! She’s super excited to eat popcorn and chew gum without me complaining at her about it! We might have corn on the cob for dinner just because we can...
Our next stop was Puy du Fou, which is a French theme park with a bunch of shows and exhibits about French history and culture. It was incredible. We did not get to see all of the shows due to time constraints, but what we did see was amazing. First, we had breakfast by the river. Then we headed to the park where the boys admired the carousel before all the windows of the town square opened and they all started playing instruments. That sounds odd, but it was amazing! I’m confident that Gabe wanted every single weapon in that store. People were herding the pigs through the streets. This tower had an amazing bell concert. We went to a very old village and watched the blacksmith at work. We went to a Viking show that included a Viking raid, half the village catching in fire and the boat rising through the water. We went to a village from the middle ages. We saw a King Authur show (which did confuse me a bit as I thought that was British, but the translations were working for that sh...
Josy started ski lessons for the year! It was our first time up the mountain and, um, there’s very little snow so it was a good thing it was our first time… But we had fun. While Josy was at his lesson, Catherine and I got to go skiing together for the first time ever. Then after lunch Josy and I got to ski together for awhile. And this one is entirely too independent for his own good and decided that he can go up the chairlift all by himself…and then not wait for me at the bottom. He even went up with a friend! Meanwhile these two were in Seattle at an appointment, missing all of the fun!
We decided to get out of Paris and see a few other things, so we picked up a rental car and started driving. Unfortunately we picked up the car in the center of Paris and driving in Paris is chaos, so our blood pressures may be slightly higher now… But we made it to Omaha Beach in Normandy. The first stop was lunch where we got gallettes. Josy took one look at it and said “This is not what I expected…” but then happily ate the whole thing. Welcome to ordering food in a foreign country, kid… Then we went to the D-Day Museum. Afterwards, we walked down to the beach. I was complaining at the boys for playing, as it felt like this place deserved more honor than that. Then I rejected that that’s what all those boys died for. So that prior kids could play in peace, safety and freedom. Then we went to Pont du Hoc. There was lot more we could have seen, but we ran out of time, so we drove to Coutances to our airbnb, which aired to be an adorable cottage with a private garden and the most incre...
