RV Trip: The End

We woke up on our last night in the RV ready to go home. Don’t get me wrong, we were excited about exploring Sisters, but I was single ready to be done with the RV thing.

Once we were packed up, we headed for Sisters Coffee, at the suggestion of a friend that used to live there.

(Oh, and to top off the drama, my contact was bugging me and giving me flashbacks to that nasty eye infection I had two years ago, so I freaked out and took them out, wearing my glasses for the day.)

Then we wandered for a while. We found a farmers market and a quilt store. The kids played at a toystore for awhile. Then we walked back and forth around town trying to find lunch, which may have tried the patience of the shorter-legged family members who were super excited about eating in a saloon and were devastated when it was closed and we had to walk all through town again to find someplace else…

But we did manage to find a fun carriage to play in and the boys would have played there a lot longer if they weren’t so terribly hungry…

Then we packed up and headed back to Portland, where we hung out with Nathan and Laurie. They got a new set of kittens and while Gabe was devastated that Ketchup was no longer living there, he liked this one too. Bella was ready to bring him home in her suitcase.

The boys shared an air mattress on the floor and it definitely helped answer the question about why they don’t sleep well together…

Friday morning, we cleaned out the rv and repacked all of our stuff. Then we returned it to the owner and picked up our car for the next couple of days. Then we hung out at Liz’s house with her family and Yen (who did not have her family) for the afternoon and evening. It was good to hang out with them without the chaos of wedding parking at the same time.

Saturday morning, Pat and I went for a run around George Fox. It was definitely not the fastest run we’ve ever done, but stopping to reminisce about my college years made that a bit complicated…

Then we got brunch with the kids and then headed to the mall for some shopping. Certain people were rather disappointed with the lack of stores that are wanted to visit, but that’s just how life works sometimes. The boys got some fun balloons that ended up being super obnoxious for the rest of the trip…

Oh, and we went to Crate and Barrel and the boys were under strict instructions that they could lay on the beds as long as their feet did not touch the bed in and way. They took this very seriously and charmed all of the people working there.

Then we went back to the hotel for naps and swimming before heading out to dinner. The food was great, but it seemed as if it was out waiter’s first day of work. I actually had a chat with the manager that he may want to talk to him about a couple of things before it causes problems with other people. Apparently he’d already had a chat with the guy that evening about not paying attention to his tables, and that was before he knew what issues we were having… Lets just say that when you have an family with a crazy two year old, maybe making them wait a half hour before you talk to them the first time will backfire as the two year old will just continue to get hungrier, wigglier and noisier… But at least I got this great picture of Gabe.

Saturday night was rough for both boys. Josy rolled out of bed and got stuck between his bed and Bella’s air mattress. Then Gabe rolled out of bed twice. This is why neither of them will be sleeping in the top bunk for a very long time…

Sunday morning we packed up the hotel room. Pat and Gabe wanted to the coffee shop for hot chocolate (which Gabe said was the best part of the trip!). Then we made a Target run and headed for the airport to head home.

It was a crazy trip. It was a good trip. It was a dramatic trip. But we saw a lot of people that we hadn’t seen in a long time, we saw some really cool stuff and we made a lot of family memories. And a week later, we’re still laughing at poor Josy, so distraught because “My. Nana. Bokin!”
