Conversations with Gabe

If I don't write down some of the conversations that Gabe and I have, I'm going to forget then, which would be very sad.

Me: Don't throw that.
Gabe throws it anyway.
Me: No Gabe. What are we allowed to throw?
Gabe: Frow balls.
Me: Yes, we throw balls. What else?
Gabe: Frow rocks water.
Me: Yes. We can throw balls and we can throw rocks into the water. That's all. Is that a ball?
Gabe: Yes
Me, realizing that he did not throw a piece of sandwich, like I'd thoughts, but a piece of foam which may have originally been a ball: This is a piece of fuzz. Do we throw pieces of fuzz?
Gabe: Yes

We talk a lot about only throwing balls and rocks into the water. This morning, it backfired.

Gabe and I walked into school. As I took his jacket off, he founds a small rock on the floor.
Me: What did you find?
Gabe: Frow rock water!
Me: Uhh..
We ended up walking outside to find him a puddle.

----------------------------

Rather than carrying around a diaper bag, I put diapers and Gabe's little backpack. He loves to carry around his "packpack", particularly in the car. It came with a little teddy bear in the pocket and he loves that little bear. That might be part of the appeal of the backpack.

This morning, Gabe wanted the backpack, so I handed it to him before we got in the car. We were driving, he started trying to open the front zipper pocket, which happened to hold the emergency pack of bunny crackers. As soon as he figured out that the crackers were in there, he started yelling "Mommy fix it. Bunny cackers stuck!" Since I was driving, I told him that there was nothing that I could do and he was going to have to wait. There were a few more shouts of "Mommy help!" "Got it" and "Open it." Before we got to school, he'd managed to get the crackers out of the backpack, even though they were stuck in the zipper, open the package and eat his bunny crackers. I'm now sure if I should be impressed with his ingenuity and motor skills or nervous...

---------------------------

The other day, Bella asked Gabe for a high five. He gave it to her and yelled "BOOYAH!"

--------------------------

The other day we were all at the church eating dinner with a couple other people. We were all talking amongst ourselves, having a grown up conversation, and ignoring Gabe. He could tell that we weren't paying attention to him, so he suddenly yelled at the top of his lungs "HOLY COW!"

----------------------------

Last night we were at the grocery store and Gabe asked me for a bana (banana) (we weren't at the grocery store that gives away free fruit). I told him no, so he asked for an orange. Once again, I told him no. So he asked for green beans. He spent the entire rest of the time in the store asking for green beans.

Needless to say, I bought a bag of green beans and he snacked on them all the way home.

---------------------

It's funny to hear what songs he requests. One day he asked for "Woll it, pat it, mark it G" (Patty cake). Another time, he asked for "Down came wash it" (Itsy Bitsy Spider) or "Mucha doggy" (How much is that Doggy in the Window). He does now call it "Tinkle Tinkle Star" rather than "Tinkle Little".

And a few pictures for you:

Story time!

Playing with Daddy's safety glasses.

Clearly this is the easiest way to get on the couch.

Toby doesn't really appreciate Gabe's sharing...
