Construction Equipment

My dear little Gabe loves his heavy equipment.  Garbage trucks are still his first love, but the rest of them all take a close second.  The daycare ladies told me that they'll go on long walks around town, which includes walking by a construction area.  The kids always ask what they're looking at and the ladies say that they don't know.  Then Gabe pipes up with "Evcavator", "Backhoe" or "Cement Mixer."

The other day we were driving and Gabe suddenly said "Forklift say Beeeep, Beeeep."  I said "Yes, Gabe.  A forklift does say Beep Beep."  Then he got frustrated and said "No Mommy.  Forklift no say Beep Beep.  Forklift say Beeeep Beeeep."

We've seen the garbage truck a couple of time this week.  I think Gabe thinks that the garbage truck is it's own entity, rather than a truck that people drive in order to pick up trash.  Yesterday he was concerned about "Men ride garbage truck."  Um, yes.  Someone has to actually drive the garbage truck...

When Gabe was born, they were very concerned about his eyes, since he was so early.  Yesterday we were playing outside and he suddenly yelled "Two helicopters! Flying high in the sky!"  Yes, there were two helicopters flying over the top of the mountain, and they were so far away that they were tiny.  Clearly, we don't need to worry about Gabe's eyes.

We got home on Wednesday just as this was happening:

Which meant that yesterday, this got to happen:

I think this is every little boys dream come true.  A dump truck and a pile of dirt! What he doesn't know is that Daddy has rented a skid steer for the weekend to deal with the dirt pile.  Gabe will be so excited!

Speaking of Daddy, this week he was doing some work under the house, and Gabe had to check it out.

Don't worry, I made him stay on his stomach and I was right there on top of him, as he yelled down the hole "Daddy?  [Where] Are you?"  Then he realized that Daddy's pliers were sitting right there, so he had to go get his pliers in case Daddy needed any help.
