Ice Cream!

Image
The local ice cream shop had a free ice cream day! Obviously, I couldn’t pass that up, so rather than doing naptime, we got ice cream. (And then we did naptime afterwards, which messed up the rest of the day, but it was totally worth it.) Actually, it was pretty funny because Josy was so distracted by the road and the cool things that kept driving by, like ambulances and city busses, that he forgot to eat his ice cream. Gabe did not have that problem. Eventually, Gabe finished eating his and asked to eat Josy’s, so I let him get in a few good licks. That inspired Josy to actually eat (seriously, who has to convince a kid to eat ice cream??) and he would not let Gabe have any more and finished it all.  And every single thing that he wore went in the laundry...

This Morning

Image
We had quite the dramatic morning. Actually, it started last night, when Gabe and I made cupcakes for Josy to take to school today for his birthday.  Both boys were super excited to help with the cleanup process. They were too warm to decorate last night, so I got up this morning and frosted them before Gabe was up. As much as I love him, frosting cupcakes with him before breakfast is a little more than I can handle... Anyway, I was finishing up the last one as he walked down the stairs and he was none the wiser. We finished up breakfast and I got Josy down from his chair and took his diaper off. He’s fighting with a diaper rash, so I wanted to let his little bottom air out. As I did it, I told him not to poop on the floor. I should have known better than to say that to a kid that isn’t potty trained... I went upstairs to brush my teeth and less than two minutes later, Gabe yells that Josy pooped on the floor. Thanks, kid. I went downstairs and cleaned up the majority of the mess. Then

Gabe Quotes

I need to write down more of these. This kid is hilarious... M: What do you want to get your brother for his birthday? G: I know! A chewie pirate ship! M: What is that? G: A pirate ship that you can chew on. M: Hm. I don’t even know where to find that. G: I know! A baby pirate costume! G: Can you Marco Polo Alexis, my old teacher, and ask him what color garbage trucks were in the old days, when pirates couldn’t see? M: Pirates couldn’t see? G: Back before they had lanterns they’d go under the deck and it was really helpful if they could see. G: Maybe Mable (Nathan and Cassie’s rabbit) is going to grow babies. Wait, do rabbits grow babies? M: Yes G: Or maybe he had an infection like Lucy had. Um, it was an operation, not an infection... M: Is there anything else you want to take to Gram and Gramps’ house? G: Yes. Um, my mop. M: No. You are not taking the mop. G: But Mom. Pirates use it to swab the deck. We had some major drama involving certain a little boy who found a worm and needed s

Lots of Catching Up...

Image
I have way too many pictures that to catch up on, so this will be a little bit of everything... These two are just too cute... If I hadn’t seen her crawl in the bag, I would have had no idea she was in there. Bella went to prom!! We made a fire and toasted some hot dogs. Josy was clearly very into it... Gabe had decided that he wants his hair to be flat. It’s never going to happen, but he’s desperate to try. Since I was taking pictures of Gabe, this one walked up to me and grinned, so I had to take a picture of him too. Seriously, how cute is he??? He insisted on helping me bring the plants outside. He loves to be a big helper, even if his “help” is less than helpful... Gabe decided to dump his boots out in the car, so he got to vacuum it out. He made sure to wear his headphones though. I woke up with a cold (first one in over a year!) and Josy was super whiney, so I was thinking he might be getting sick, so he started home with me for the day. He turned out to be fine, but it was fun

A Day at the Beach

Image
One of the problems with being a working mom, is that I don’t have the freedom to do fun stuff with my kids during the day, like my stay-at-home-mom friends. (That said, I also don’t have to entertain them all day when it’s raining outside, so there are two sides to that coin...) When the weather is beautiful, I see pictures of them all hanging out at the beach and the kids playing in the rocks or looking at tide pools and I feel like I’m missing out. Well, on Tuesday, there was a suspicious package outside of daycare and the decision was made to call in the bomb squad, so school was closed and all of the parents had to pick up their kids in a hurry at the park (most of which had to be woken up from a nap, since whoever put the package there was clearly not thinking about naptime concerns...). I brought the boys back to my office for a few minutes so that I could finish things up (at which point they discovered that it was a book, not a bomb, so there was no actually threat) and I dete

The Big Game

Image
Gabe spent the two days between practice and his first tball game referring to it as “the big game.” Seriously, his excitement level over all of this is adorable. You’d think he was playing in the World Series... That said, he did really well. His first hit made it into the outfield. I don’t remember where the rest of them went, but he was hitting well. In the field, when he was infield, he was convinced that they should throw it to him every time (we’re going to have to work on that one...) and in the outfield he sat on the cone with his mitt on the ground. That’s about right for tball, right??? Seriously, the game was adorable. At one point the batter, the runner on first and the runner on second were all gathered together over by the pitcher, rather than running to their own bases. One kid would hit the ball in what was basically a glorified bunt, then just stand there and grin, refusing to put down the bat or run, because he was so excited and proud of himself. It was adorable!! It
