Hawaii Day 10: The Last Day
The last day of a vacation is always hard. You want to make the most of everything, but at the same time you have to park and clean up and actually get ready to go...
Then on the way back, I decided to wave at the boys from the street. We’re in the 26th floor, so it was fun to get the perspective.
After my run, I had a papaya waiting for me. Unfortunately, I had two little baby birds who felt like they should get my papaya too...
Then we went to the mall and found the exact same spot where we are mochi with the entire family two years ago, so we had to get mochi again. Josy wasn’t quite so sure about it...
Bella asked for a picture of Hot Topic, so we made sure to stop there.
We went to the Disney store and since Gabe was dressed like a pirate, the lady at the store disappeared into the back and came out with a Captain Hook hat that was on sale. So naturally, Gabe has a new pirate hat that he loves and wears almost constantly.
We drive up to Nathan and Cassie’s house and I was trying to get up there before Josy fell asleep so that he could get a good nap in before the red eye flight. That did not happen. Instead, he fell asleep 20 minutes before we got there, so instead we kept driving and drove to the end of the island. Gabe and I both fell asleep too, so it worked out well. Pat was a little bummed that he missed out on naptime... Anyway, the water was so amazing and the beaches were so pretty that we kindof wished we’d stayed up there instead. Oops... Anyway, as soon as we got to the end of the island, everyone woke up, but Josy was acting funny. He was crying funny, like he was a baby, not a toddler. Anyway, long story short, we ended up pulled over on the side of the road with baby throwing up, six hours before we got on a six hour overnight flight.
Josy decided that he needed to play in Winston’s cage and Gabe needed to hang out in Jeremiah’s chair, so cleanly Winston and Jeremiah are going to be happy to have their house back...
From there we headed to the airport, where Josy mastered the art of social distancing.
Both boys were asleep before we even took off. Pat and I may not have gotten much sleep, but the boys did and that made it a much more pleasant situation for everyone.
Gabe got lots of compliments on his hat.
And they slept the whole second flight too. Flying home was so much easier than flying there!
And now we’re home and trying to readjust to not getting to go to the beach whenever we want. Until next time...
I started out the morning with a run. I’m definitely going to miss running in the nice weather...

But he must have just been carsick, because once we got to Nathan and Cassie’s he perked up, ate some watermelon and was perfectly fine. We even went to the park where they got to run around and burn a lot of energy. Naturally Gabe made friends with everyone, Jeremiah was devastated that he couldn’t go play with them and Josy tried to steal a skateboard.
Back at the house I tried desperately to get a picture of the three cousins. It only kindof worked.
