Catching Up

Image
Before Christmas this weekend, I need to catch up on all of the random pictures that I have that are not connected to any event, like birthday parties and Christmas Tree Hunting. Fair warning: this will be long. I think I have a months worth of pictures to add. It’s not terrifying at all to be laying on the floor and open your eyes to this… This boy loves his Freddy. Actually, we’re all pretty smitten with Freddy. When one of the kids knocks over my folded laundry basket, they get to refold it. I’m not sure what to do about Lucy though… We went to Gallery Walk. It was very cold, but we got dinner and candy canes. Does it get better than that?? Plus, the quilt store had a puppy to play with. Sledding down the slide, straight towards the house. Nothing could go wrong there. These boys love their hot chocolate… Daddy borrowed a backhoe to deal with our crazy amounts of snow. The boys thought it was the best! We went to Bella’s band concert and it was fun to actually get to listen in perso

A Very Happy Birthday Boy

Gabe turned 6 today. But rather than getting all nostalgic about how I can’t believe that it can possibly be six years since that little boy grabbed my finger for the first time, I’m going to focus on how much he enjoyed his day. Gabe and I made cupcakes for his class last night, so this morning he put the pirates toothpicks in them. Josy desperately wanted to help, but Gabe was pretty sure that he needed to do his own cupcakes all by himself. Gabe was super excited to go to school because he was going to get to a birthday crown to wear, sit in seat number one, be the helper and get a cupcake. Could it get any better than that??? After school, he had a birthday lunch with the friends he hangs out with in the afternoon. Then this evening Gram and Gramps came over for Chicken Noodle Soup, presents and cupcakes. Since Gabe got lots of presents, Gramps brought Josy a new phone. He was super excited. I put a very happy six-year-old to bed this evening. As he snuggled into his bed, he told m

Six Years

Tomorrow my baby turns 6. 6! How is that even possible? How has it been six years since I first saw that tiny, tiny little baby, all covered in tubes and tape. His little hand holding the top of my finger. Six years since my world revolved around sitting in the nicu every day with a baby snuggled in my lap. Six years. I can’t even believe it. And now I have the sweetest, most caring little boy ever. Sure, he’s still a little boy that gets distracted when doing simple tasks and asks way too many questions and doesn’t ever stop moving. But he is also empathetic to a fault and just wants to learn everything about everything. And tonight when he could tell I was having a rough time, he offered to let me have one of his birthday cupcakes. Every time he makes a special treat at school, he brings a piece home for Daddy and I to try. And he loves pirates. Oh man, does he love pirates. But how had it been six years since this little boy first captured my heart???
