Three Weeks
Well, we’ve been home about 3 weeks. In that time we’ve had a week off jetlag, Pat and Gabe went to Seattle for a doctors appt, two weeks of swim lessons for Josy, daycare being closed for a week, a week of hiking camp for Gabe, a retirement party for my boss, Great Gram visiting and the 4th of July. Luckily Pat only had one work trip in the middle of that. Oh, and Pat’s had a headcold basically since we got back. Life is not boring, that’s for sure…
Here’s the last couple of weeks in pictures…
We went to the park to play. I thought I was going to get to drink my iced coffee while the boys played. Gabe thought we were there to play baseball.
I’m trying to convince Gabe that the more time he pours into teaching Josy to play ball, the more it will pay off later. As such, he spent a long time helping him told his hands right and getting his feet right. Eventually he put the bat in the bunt position and I thought the ball at the bat and Josy was so excited that he’d hit the ball.
We spent so much time playing that we wore out Josy so badly that he did not want to wake up from his nap.
Josy and I went to dinner with Gram, Gramps and Great Gram, and then hung out at the whale. This was the cute picture…
The boys moved into the bunk beds. That’s always been the plan, to change Gabe’s room into the sleeping room and turn Josy’s room into the playroom. We have a lot of rearranging to do, but for now they are very happy to be sleeping together.
We had a picnic at the beach. Great Gram didn’t make it very far down the path before she needed a break…
We went to Gram and Gramp’s house to say goodbye to Great Gram, so naturally Gabe did this. He also showed Gramps how long he could plank. He made it four minutes, so Gramps gave him a popsickle.
Lucy found a new place to sleep.
He was determined to climb the tree. He was not successful, but he kept trying because “I don’t care if I get a concussion.” Um, but I care kid. At least he was wearing a helmet.
Josy decided to help me paint. That worked out great until somehow his paintbrush hit his eyebrow and got in his hair.
We sent Bella a care package and Gabe wrote her this note all by himself. He read it to me and when he got to “Josy says he loves you too and wants your to come back” Josy burst into tears saying “And I ate cheese!” Apparently that was the last half of his sentence and Gabe hadn’t included it, which was devastating. So I told Gabe to add an asterisk and put that Josy ate cheese. Then Josy was okay.
We pulled off a surprise retirement party for my boss of 18 years. His last day was the end of May, so he’s been out of the office a bit, but now that the party is done, it’s all official. And weird. But the party was a lot of fun.
