Australia: Day 5 - Uluru

I have a couple of days to catch up on because we did not have wifi in our room, and let’s face it, early morning, while everyone else is asleep, is the best time to catch up on all things on the internet. So without wifi, that got complicated. But I did finish my book…

When we started planning this trip, Pat informed me that he wanted to go to Uluru. I told him he was crazy because who would want to go on a three hours flight with two little kids a few days after a 14 hour flight just to see a big rock?? But I found a blog post from a lady with the boys the same age as ours who did it and they had a successful time, so we decided to do it. Yep, totally worth it.

But first, our last sunrise from the most amazing airbnb ever.

Then we went to the airport for our three hours flight to the middle of nowhere.

We got to the resort and got checked into our room. It was crazy hot (I mean, it is the desert…) so we crashed for a few minutes before heading into the town square to look  around. We had a couple of hours to kill before the bus picked us up for dinner.

When the bus came, we went out to a viewing platform where we watch the sunset and had a super fancy picnic dinner, full of Australian delicacies.

The boy’s picnic basket included some cute new puppets, which I have named Dingo Dave and Wombat Willy.

Then we watched an amazing light and drone show about the history of Uluru and the people who used to live there.

As we left to go back to the resort, we saw a lightening storm off in the distance. We had no idea that storm would take over the rest of the trip…
