One Year Ago
One year ago today I was on a medivac plane. Pat was sitting in the back holding my toe, which was as much as he could hold. We were on our way to the hospital where we were hoping to keep our baby in for as long as possible, to give him the best chance we could.
One year ago tonight we didn't know if our baby was going to live or die. I told the doctor that if he wasn't going to live, could they please bring him back to me so that I could hold him before he died.
One year ago, we had no idea what the next few months were going to hold or how the NICU would define the course of the rest of our lives.
One year ago, I had no idea what the future held.
But here we are one year later. And I have you.
