A Beautiful Weekend

It’s been a pretty great weekend so far. On Friday night Gabe went to Aunt Jan’s house to do some planting. She’s working on getting a huge garden going in her garage, so she asked Gabe if he wanted to grow some plants. They planted lettuce, spinach and beans and he’s excited to watch them grow. A few months ago she gave him a strawberry and a lettuce plant that he checked on every morning, so he’s definitely going to be excited to watch these plants grow too.

On Saturday, the weather was amazing! Pat had some stuff he had to get done around the house, so I took the boys to the park to play. Now that Josy is officially walking, he had so much fun. Yes, he did do a lot of crawling everywhere, but he was able to walk around and he was super excited to be a big boy.

Both boys could have spent the entire time on the swings.

Yep. He’s off.

He actually figured out how to go down the slide all by himself. Stop growing up child!

At least he couldn’t figure out how to get up the rock wall...

Playing music together...

After naps, we decided to play outside for awhile. Josy decided to explore the ditch, so clearly I’m going to have to keep a very close eye on him outside...

We finally had another animal-crackers-on-the-lawn date, which hasn’t happened for a very long time. Plus, the boys ended up having a “nose fight” which meant that they took turns snorting at each other and laughing about it. It was adorable. It’s fun to watch them play together now that Josy is big enough to play also.

Josy is officially in 18 month clothes. I’m actually going to pack up all of his 12 months clothes tomorrow. But when Gabe put on his Christmas jammies so I decided that the boys needed to wear their matching jammies together for one last night.

I was all excited to run my big relay race this year (since last year Josy was way too little for me to leave him last year, even if I had been able to run that far). But then covid hit and it all ended up turning into a virtual relay. So today was my big run. I’ve been doing a fair bit of running this year (it’s definitely helped relieve stress!) and it’s all been worth it. It may not have been a normal race, but the run actually felt like a race and I feel really good about it. Also, I’m completely exhausted now, which is definitely how you want to feel after a race.

Tonight we made a fire and some of the neighbors came over and joined us for s'mores. It was a great way to end the weekend.
