The Last Few Days…

The last couple of days have been a little crazy. It’sa long story, but we ended up leaving our airbnb and moving to an all inclusive resort, which has been really good, but it was rather unexpected and had us feeling a but like we were in two separate vacations. We’re also definitely not used to be pampered quite like this…

Some highlights from the last couple of days…

We went to the Xcaret part and they had macaws. Gabe was thrilled!!

We floated down a lazy river and it was a much better experience. There were no tears! In fact, the boys had fun, even though they were going a little cold by the end…

They also had flamingos. And Gabe decided to make bunny ears…

We attempted to take naps, which didn’t work at all, so instead we went down to the pool. It turns out that Gabe has no fear of the water and Josy enjoyed it, but also liked to sit in the chairs.

We went to a Brazilian place where they bring the meat to your table and you tell them if you want it or not. Um, Gabe wanted every single meat. And then he ate all of them. Either he’s on a growth spurt or he’s going to be very expensive as he gets older… He even ate crickets. And he liked them so much that he went back to seconds, impressing a whole group of 35 year old Mexican men…

You can’t complain when the kids say “Take my picture!”

Josy is very excited that housekeeping puts all of the animals all in a line on the pillows. Gabe is upset that they put the wrong animal on the wrong kid’s pillows. I’m not sure how he thinks the housekeeper, that we never see, knows which kid has which animal…

The next day we went to Xeiha, the water park. The boys were too small to do most of it, so I’m glad that we didn’t pay for it, as it’s included in our stay. But we had fun, just not as much fun as we would have if the boss had been bigger.

Gabe and Pat got to play with dolphins.

I got to stay with Josy. But I got a massage later l, so it evened itself out.

Apparently all that watching-Gabe-play-with-dolphins was exhausting? Either that it was the not-napping-for-for-days. Xx

We rafted down the river for a long time. Apparently my phone case had water on it, debater these pictures aren’t that good. Also, I’m going to deliberately not mention the end of the trip which involved a lot of wind, trying to get out of the rocks and the lifeguard towing is in to shore…

And then you know your tired when you have a meltdown because your ice cream fell down and rather than just putting the ice cream in your mouth, you hold it in your hand. Yep, he was pretty tired…

This kid. Here he is reading grilled cheese for dinner. Not a grilled cheese sandwich. Just grilled cheese.

This place is incredible!

This morning Pat needed a rash guard (he managed to burn yesterday at Xeiha), so we stopped by the store. They had a mirror on the floor. Can you get better than that???

Here’s Josy, living his best life. Drinking a fancy drink (orange juice…), while sitting in the water.

We played in the water for awhile.

Then we got in a kayak and Gabe insisted on paddling the whole way. I was very surprised. He’s needed a couple of breaks, but I got about three strokes in before he was ready to keep going. Apparently “this is good exercise.”

Then we had a buffet lunch and he picked shrimp, fish and three types of ceviche. Seriously. Feeding him is going to get expensive!

Gabe shared a piece of people octopus with Josy and that was all he was willing to eat for lunch. He may have only gotten three bites down, but it was more than the chicken that we thought he’d eat…

After finally getting a nap, we went back to Xcaret for dinner and their show.

The show was amazing! I will highly recommend it to anyone that comes down here. And the boss even enjoyed it, even though they were so tired that they could hardly stand up.

And that brings us to now. And who knows what tomorrow will bring???
