A Few More…

A few more conversations that I forgot to add to yesterdays post… Two months ago, some friend’s adult son was killed in a car accident. His name happened to be Josiah. We talked about it a lot as we were all trying to work through the grief of that whole thing. But we haven’t talked about it in awhile. Then the other day we were taking about God’s plans and how God can use bad things that happen in our lives and that good things can come out of them, even though it’s hard. M: Gabe, can you think of something hard that’s happened to you? G: Ummmm, oh, like when Josy died? M: What? Yes, that works be really sad, but I meant something that actually happened. J, bursting into tears: Me not dead!!! M: No Josy, you’re not dead. G: No, the other Josy, M: What other Josy? J, still sobbing: Me not dead!!! G: No, your friend Josy. M: Oh, the other Josiah??? That conversation was a couple of weeks ago and Gabe still talks about when Josy thought he was dead… Speaking of theology, Gabe asked me th

Conversations

Josy has gotten so funny. I’m not sure how it happened, but suddenly he’s quite the little entertainer. J: Mommy we were playing hide and seek and no one was finding me. M: Oh. Well I think that’s because no one knew we were playing hide and seek. J: I was playing by myself. J: Kids are si-y. M: Yes. Kids are silly. J: Dat on Bu-ey. M: And do you know which kids are the silliest? My kids. J: No. Bu-ey’s dad’s kids. J: We need to buy dat snowbower. M: We’re not going to buy a snowblower right now. J: We need to!! Pease!!! M: Why do you want to buy a a snowblower? J: To bow snow. J: Me want some juice. M: Okay. How could you ask in a way that’s a little nicer? J: I won’t spit it out. M: Josy you are so noisy! J: Me just getting my songs out. The other day we were playing and I was the baby and he was taking care of me. Every time I’d cry, he’d say “No Baby. Baby’s don’t py (cry). Dey seep and be kiet. (They sleep and be quiet.)” At one point I asked him a question and rather than answeri

Pumpkins!

Image
We carved pumpkins!! Actually, I should clarify. I carved pumpkins. One of these days, the boys will be big enough to carve their own pumpkins, but at the rate they’re going, that will be when they’re in high school, so once more, I carved all of the pumpkins… But before I get to all of that, I should add that this whole pumpkin story began last week when I took the boys to buy pumpkins and a certain boy insisted that the perfect pumpkin was at the very bottom of the box, buried under other pumpkins, so I could not reach it. But it was the one that he had to have, so I may or may not have held him by the ankles into the box to see if he could grab it himself. When that didn’t work, I ended up on the box of pumpkins, just to get that perfect pumpkin for my son. Needless to say, the other son had to pick one of the ones off the top because I wasn’t doing that again… When it was finally pumpkin carving time, they rolled them in and then tried to crash then into each other and I had to shu

Firetrucks Brothers

Image
The boys were both wearing firetruck jammies and announced that they were firetruck brothers. So naturally I had to take a picture. It I should say that I tried to take a picture. Someone wasn’t having it… So Gabe decided to tickle him, to see if that would help. And that is how I ended up with a while bunch of pictures of my firetruck brothers, most of which are a blurry mess…

My Boys…

They’re just so cute, that I can’t even handle it sometimes.

A Weekend Away

Image
Last weekend, Pat and I went to a conference in Atlanta. It was amazing and it was the first time that we’d been alone with no kids for multiple days since 2017! Meanwhile the boys stayed home with Cathy for the weekend. Other than Gabe getting a sick for a day and having to miss a birthday party and Josy pinching his fingers in a clamp, they had a wonderful time. And then we got home and I walked into school to get Josy and he burst into tears and said “I wanted Caffee to pick me up!!” Apparently he had a good weekend.

My Little Cuties

Image
Why are my boys so cute??? I was pulling out the 3T clothes and found this outfit in the pile. It happened to be a 24M outfit, so it’s not going to fit him long, so I decided that he needed to wear it to church. Gabe thought he looked like he was going to go to a meeting in the legislature… His first night in 3T jammies! This one started indoor soccer!! He loved it! We went to play at the turf field and Josy found one of his friends. They played together the whole time. Gabe finished marathon club. He had a really hard time with it, but I was proud of him. He worked hard and he didn’t give up, even when it was hard. And the final run through the school may have made up for it. We went to a bonfire for Boy Scouts this evening. It was a perfect night for us. Seriously. They are so adorable.

Leaf Project

Image
It’s time for our annual leaf project!! This was the first year that Gabe was actually into it. In fact, my little craft-obsessed boy thought it was awesome! He even asked me if he could do the cutting. Soon he’ll be doing the ironing too… There was also tape involved. And Gabe loves tape… The other day he informed me that “I love tape” and that might be the understatement of the year… Meanwhile  Josy was just not interested. He spent the while time yelling “Can you cock it???” since he doesn’t have the hand strength to cock his our nerf gun…

K’nex

Image
Last Christmas, the neighbors gave the boys their old k’nex set. They weren’t a bit confused and not really read for it for several months. The Gabe discovered it and began making swords. There were so many swords all over the house. It may have made me a little bit crazy… But suddenly Gabe has discovered that he can make other things and I’m totally impressed. His creativity astounds me. These are all of the creations that are currently sitting around the living room. A rifle, complete with bullets to reload. A fishing pole. The line is a combination of grass and a green pipe cleaner so that the fish think it’s kelp. He can even reel it up a bit. A sword, because why mess with the classics? Googles and a snorkel. Seriously. He is so creative! Also, there are k’nex pieces all over my house…

Pictures…

I don’t know what it is about ducks, but my boys can not resist them! Gabe spent the entire park trip trying to catch one. At least Josy just looks at them, but if he’s acting like his brother, that won’t last long… Lucy makes it really hard to brush your teeth. We were supposed to meet a friend for coffee. Josy was perfectly happy with this plan. He insisted on scraping my windows. “Mom! Come take a picture of us!” This was too sweet not to take a picture of. Goodnight prayers with Daddy. There was a pajama party at school, so Josy got to bring Blanket, Unicorn and Dump Truck Pillow. But it was also pouring and he needed to keep everyone dry. You know it’s a long day at school when you fall asleep in the car. I don’t remember the last time he did that! And Gabe want too far behind him. Apparently it was a long week. I decided to clean out Gabe’s bedroom. I kicked him out of his room for an entire Saturday and went through everything. I throw away a whole bunch of stuff and reorganized
