Camping Take One

Last weekend we went camping. It ended up being a Sunday night trip, which isn't ideal when you have jobs and all, but that was when the cabin was available, so that's when we went.

This was Gabe's first camping trip. Pat, Bella and I went up to a cabin a few days after I found out I was pregnant, but that was the last time. Since Katilyn, Seth and Bryson are all in town for awhile, we figured it would be fun to all go together. Plus, we could put both boys to bed and actually talk, versus one of us having to leave so we could get someone to bed, which is what happens on a normal day.

Gabe was in charge of gathering the wood. It's a good thing that Daddy was helping him or we'd probably still be loading wood...

Once we got to the cabin, Pat, Seth and Gramps worked on unloading the cars while Katilyn, Gram, Bella and I took the boys to the river to throw rocks.

The boys tried to unload the firewood too.

Then we all hung out by the campfire for the evening.

Well, most of us sat around the fire relaxing. The two little boys spent the day exploring, throwing balls, riding the bike, eating snacks, hitting things with sticks and trying to figure out why we wouldn't let them poke things in the fire...

Needless to say, they were pretty wiped out come bedtime and Gabe asked me if he could go to bed.

We were all up pretty early for breakfast, since that's what happens when the sun comes up at 3am and you have two toddlers...

Then it was time to pack up.

Bryson tried to help, but he was very concerned about Gramps' coffee.

He even left the sleeping bag to take it to Gramps.

The coffee didn't make it all the way to Gramps, so a little later, Gabe picked it up and began the trek out to the car with the coffee. He made it partway and then found some birds to chase.

So Bryson had to pick it up again.

It was a lot of work, but eventually they managed to being Gramps his coffee.

Then there was just one more snack break before we went home.

We were all pretty wiped out by the time we got home, but it was a lot of fun!
