LA Part 1
Sunday morning, we headed out on another adventure. We started off by meeting Seth, Katilyn and Bryson for lunch, along with Auntie Peach and Allen. Well, really, we had lunch with Katilyn and Seth while Auntie Peach and Allen talked to the little boys...
After lunch, we started driving. We made it to LA in six hours, which was pretty good, considering that Josy eats every two hours and we had a three year old with a tiny bladder. But we made it without any accident and Josy didn’t start screaming until the last half hour or so. By then we were stuck on LA traffic and we were all hungry, tired and done. It was a fun end to the drive... We’d found a Paw Patrol sticker book for Gabe and we gave it to him about an hour into the drive. Um, best surprise ever. He seriously looked at that book for the entire drive. It was great!
We got up Monday morning and left to meet Uncle Matt and Auntie Rachael for breakfast. Unfortunately the breakfast stop had two locations on the same street, so we did not have breakfast together, but we all did have breakfast... When we finally met up with them, Gabe was super excited to show Asta, their dog, his sticker book and to teach her all about Paw Patrol. I’m not sure Asta absorbed a lot of that lesson, but Gabe was her size and he was talking and playing with her constantly, so she thought it was great.
We drove out to Malibu, where we played on the beach for a long time. Eventually we went and got lunch, which was a little awkward because it was two hours before our dinner reservations, but sometimes that’s just how life goes...
Monday was Pat’s birthday. Matt and I had been plotting for a bit, so he found a fancy Japanese barbeque for dinner, which Pat loved. Josy ended up snuggling with Auntie Rachael for most of dinner, so they were both perfectly happy. I went to take a picture of them together and I told Josy to smile...and he did. It was adorable!
After dinner, we went back to Matt and Rachael’s house for a bit. Gabe got to play with Asta some more and Uncle Matt introduced Gabe to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. At one point during the show Gabe was crying because he’d actually forgotten to blink, he was so into the show. It was pretty funny.
All in all, it was a good way to spend Pat’s birthday. That said, though, when Pat’s parents called to wish him a happy birthday, Gabe informed them that “My dad is in his sixties.” I don’t think he appreciated that...
