Gabe’s Real Birthday

I woke up Gabe on his birthday and the first thing he said was “It’s my birthday! And a hot chocolate date! And my teacher is back! Yes, yes, yes!”

Needless to say, he was very excited about his day, and this was before he found out about the helicopter…

We’d told him that since he’d already had his birthday parties, we weren’t going to do anything special for his birthday. But apparently we couldn’t avoid all of the fun birthday things.

First, we had to get our official birthday picture.

Then we measured him! He is finally growing!

Second, his teacher came back from maternity leave. He loved his sub, but he really loves his teacher. He even picked out a special sweater to wear just for the day. Then they had a special party, which involved watching The Grinch and drinking two cups of hot chocolate.

Then one of my friends picked him up after school and they went on a hot chocolate date.

After school, we had a helicopter trip. That was actually a Christmas thing, not a birthday thing, so I’ll talk about that in a different post. But after that, we were all hungry, so we went out to dinner. After another kid got a birthday song, I couldn’t skip it. So I told the waitress that he had had enough sweets for one day, but it was his birthday, so if she could play the song, he’d appreciate it. So she played the song and brought him a very large treat.

Could his birthday get any better??
