A Change of Plans
We were supposed to be in Paris right now. We had the plane tickets booked, all excited to not only be in Europe again, but to go an adventure before we started having to pay for Josy’s plane ticket. Plus, Josy is the same age that Gabe was when we went to London and that was one of the best trips we’ve ever taken. So it was time to do that again.
It was a pretty early morning, so we all had to get in our caffeine fix.
After flying with Josy for a reasonably short flight, maybe it’s okay that we didn’t fly to Paris. I mean, we would have survived, but I ended up with two boys who decided they needed to be attached to me at all times, and that would have been a very long flight... Luckily they did end up sleeping eventually.
We picked up the RV and drove straight out to see Grammy and Grandpa. Pat and the boys stayed with them for awhile, while I got to do the massive grocery shopping trip. Josy even showed off his standing skills for Grammy.
We spent the first night camping in Hatcher Pass since we were all completely wiped out. Sunday morning we spent a long time getting situated and settled in before driving up to Denali.
It was a beautiful drive and Denali even showed up for us! Seriously, we had a better view from the road than when we came up in June and flew deliberately to it...
We got up to Denali and were going to camp in the park, but we ran out of time and decided to just camp outside. We stopped by the visitor’s center to get information and we met this guy. I told Josy that this was the closest he’d ever get to a bear...
And then we returned to the RV and had a lovely dinner before crashing for the night.
But nothing about this year has gone according to plan and our tickets were canceled and leaving the state is complicated, so instead we decided to rent an RV and drive around instate.
Airplane travel looks different these days.
