Life in Photos

Now that Lucy goes outside, Josy doesn’t really understand why he doesn’t get to go outside all the time too. These are the jammies Gabe got for his third Christmas. Josy is now wearing them and he’s not even one. The swings have become quite popular. Gabe loves the babyswing and regularly asks if we can push him “as high as I like to go.” Apparently he goes as fast as the Blue Angels. We took a bike ride to the glacier and I let the boys play in the sand for a bit. There were also a bunch of people painting, which was kindof random. This one doesn’t get to play in the dishwasher very often because he weighs so much more than Gabe that I’m actually afraid he might break the door. But every once in awhile he gets away with it... I found this suit in the closet that my cousin had given me and Gabe insteaded on trying it on. He also purposely put his leg like that... He was pretty upset that I wouldn’t let him wear the shirt and tie all day, so I told him he could wear it for a few minut

My Mini-Me?

Image
I always thought that Josy took after Pat’s side of the family. To be fair, he popped out looking just like Bella and since they’re only biologically half siblings, that was a pretty safe assumption. But I’ve had a couple of people say that he looks like me, which didn’t make sense. Then I took these pictures. Apparently I do have a little mini-me!

The Sweetest Little Boys

I have the sweetest little boys. Tonight I nursed Josy before bed and as I snuggled him up to me, I jumped because his hand was really cold. Gabe asked what happened, so I told him. He then told me that his hands were super warm, and grabbed my hand to show me. Then he grabbed Josy’s hand (which was pretty complicated because it was his bottom hand) and held it for awhile to warm it up. Then last night, I was putting Josy to bed and I always give him a hug and a kiss, but he never really reciprocates on the hug. Well last night he wrapped both arms around me and tucked his face up next to me and just held me for a long time. Obviously, I couldn’t put him to bed and had to just stand there and snuggle with him. He may have been trying to get out of going to bed, but I don’t care because it was such a sweet, special moment with my little boy.

Climbing

Image
Well, I may not be able to keep this child from climbing everything, but at least he’s figured out how to climb down the stairs backwards...

The Rain Came Back

And then we played at the park for awhile. It was really strange being the only people in the entire place. Usually that park is packed. But these are weird times. But things are starting to get back to normal. Gabe and I both got to go to the dentist yesterday. No cavities for either of us and they aren’t concerned about his dead tooth, which I was glad they were able to look at. But we did have to hang out in the car instead of the waiting room and I got a look into my future. He was way too excited about this...

Color Days

Image
Last week the city did a sidewalk chalk competition, so Gabe and Emma decided to participate. At the same time, the youth center had a color day competition, so it seemed natural to put the two together. We didn’t get to do every single day, but we got some of them. Also, we missed red day. How did Gabe miss the day to get all of his red stuff out???

A Sandbox

Image
Two summers ago (I think? I don’t think it was just last summer...) we went over to Grandma Jan’s house for the 3rd of July fireworks. Since Gabe and Bryson were there, she’d gotten out a bunch of construction sand toys and made them a little sandbox. Since her grandkids are all much bigger and wouldn’t care about sandboxes, she gave the sandbox to us after the fireworks. Gabe loved it. Unfortunately, so did the neighborhood cats who decided to use it as a litterbox. Needless to say, Gabe has not been allowed to use the sandbox for awhile... He’s been asking a lot lately about when we’ll get him new sand. But since the sandbox has no lid, we figured that cats would just keep pooping in it, so refilling it would be silly. Instead, I found one on Buy/Sell/Trade last week so we could surprise him. This morning Pat went to run some errands, one of which was to go buy some sand. Gabe was out in the yard fishing and I was feeding Josy when Gabe walked in. G: Guess what Mom! I got all of the

Surgery

Image
Back at the beginning of March, Josy had his fourth ear infection and ended up with shots to try and kick it. It wasn’t fun. We met with the ENT and he was scheduled for tube surgery the next week. Unfortunately, that’s the week that all of the craziness started and the OR shut down for all non-essential surgery. Unfortunately for us, ear tubes were deemed non-essential. The advantage of quarantine is that no one has been exposed to any bugs, which meant that Josy’s ears have been good for about two months. But that’s not going to last forever, so as soon as they opened the OR back up, we jumped at the chance to get the surgery. Gabe had it done and it was a game-changer for him and we’re ready to be done with ear drama. Unfortunately, having surgery in the middle of a pandemic means that things are more complicated, one of which was that Josy had to have a covid test at the drive up clinic. Originally they’d told me that he’d need to stay in his carseat and if I asked nicely I could s

Mother’s Day

Image
Mother’s Day was beautiful and warm and sunny, so it was a perfect day to spend outside in the grass with Gram and Gramps. To be fair, it was also the last day that Gram and Gramps were going to be around for a couple of weeks, so we definitely wanted to enjoy it. Somehow, in spite of the fact that it was Mother’s Day, Gramps was the most popular, even with the car. After they left and the boys had naps, the four of us went to the park and Josy got to try out the swings for the first time. He didn’t scream, so I’ll take that as a win! Apparently I should have turned him the other direction for better pictures... Gabe also wanted to race down the slide. Clearly Josy didn’t really care... All in all, it was a nice, quiet, lovely day.
