RV Trip: Day 6

The first words I heard when I woke up were “Where did you go, you bilge rat??” Seriously, staying in an rv with a pirate is quite the experience… Oh, and apparently the bilge rat was Perry, the stuffed parrot …

Once we all go up and going, we had breakfast. Josy decided that he didn’t want to use a normal seat and apparently he first spend enough time in his carseat…

We packed everything up and decided to drive down the Avenue of the Giants, checking out the amazing trees. We got to Founders’ Grove and started exploring. Unfortunately Josy had fallen asleep in the rv. Conveniently, Bella didn’t want to get out of the car, so we didn’t have to walk up the Jo Jo Bear, and Gabe got a Mommy/Daddy/Gabey date.

Seriously, the other two really missed out on some amazing sights.

From there, we started the drive to Redding. Um, that was brutal. We probably would have been better to take the freeway down, even though google says that this way was a whole hour shorter. It did not save us an hour. It was a very windy two lane road through the mountains. Most of us ended up carsick and we had to stop a few times to let us all breath. We had no cell service, so we couldn’t listen to Adventures in Odyssey and the book on tape that I’d gotten scared Gabe. By the time we hit I5, we all felt like we’d survived a crazy adventure and that wasn’t supposed to be the adventurous part of the vacation…

We thought about driving up to our RV park and then setting up camp and making dinner, but by then we were all hungry and tired, so we hit up In and Out. That was when we discovered that Josy doesn’t eat a lot of fast food burgers. We may need hamburger eating lessons.

Then my sweet little Gabe decided that he needed to say thank you to the people who made his dinner, so by himself, he went up to the counter to say thank you. Oh that kid. He may ask so many questions that he drives us all batty, but he’s the best.
