A Weekend By Ourselves

Gram flew up for the weekend, so Pat and I could have a weekend all to ourselves!  I'm not sure when the last time was that happened.  Maybe when we went to Germany last year?  As much as we love the kids, it is nice to have a break for a while...

Even though we didn't leave town, we decided not to go home (except to pick up the things we forgot...).  So we went out to dinner.

We went to the Tea Shop and played Battleship.

We wandered downtown for awhile, went for a drive and saw the high school's production of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.  Basically, we just enjoyed the fact that it was just the two of us.

We also tried very hard to ignore the fact that we were in our hometown and we had a big home remodel project that we were deliberately not doing so that we could spend time together...  :)  Seriously, vacationing in your hometown in kindof hard.  I'm not complaining at all!  It was great.  But it would have been easier to not be home...

Meanwhile, the kids were having a wonderful time with Gram.  They went to the pet store and held kittens.

They went to McDonalds and played at the play area.  And Gabe got to watch "Lightning McQueen!" for the first time.  (He was very excited to tell Gramps all about Lightning McQueen...)

So, thanks Mom.  The weekend was so nice! (Although I’m not supposed to call her Mom. Gabe got mad at me because I’m Mom and she is Gram...)
