Phoenix Day 1: The Farm
When we landed in Phoenix, Gram, Auntie Katilyn and Bryson were all at the airport to meet us. It took about 45 seconds of the boys looking at each other awkwardly before they grinned, hugged each other and started running around the airport together. It’s been four days now and they haven’t stopped...
We went on a tractor ride, saw pig races, road trikes through a track and saw donkeys and chickens. Just as we were about to leave (since everyone was wet and cold and Uncle Seth had just driven up and said that the rain was coming even harder), Gabe found the goats. He was trying to feed them corn from the ground and the goats were not having it. So some random ladies bought goat food and let him help them feed the goats, which he thought was great.
When you go to Phoenix, you naturally assume that it’s going to be warm and sunny. Um, apparently that is not the case. Instead on Saturday we ended up going to the pumpkin patch/corn maze in the rain. It was too bad that the weather was terrible because the farm was amazing. But there were a lot of things that were closed because of the weather (like the big slides) that would have been fun, but who would want to go down the slide when you’re cold and wet and you end up in a big puddle???
But we did have fun, it was just wet fun. My cousin Merilee and her kids met us up there too.
The corn maze was wet and muddy. I think the mud was the worst in there. Gram ended up just walking through the corn stalks where it was dryer.

Then we decided that we were hungry, wet and cold, so Gram, Gramps, Gabe, Merilee and her kids and I all went and a long, warm, lovely lunch.
By the time we left, it was several hours past naptime. I figured that Gabe would sleep in the car, but no. His eyes were hardly open the whole hour and a half ride, but he did not sleep. When we got back to the house, I just put him straight to bed...where he slept for 30 minutes. I have no idea how that happened. The poor kid was an exhausted mess...
And I’d like to say that we got him to bed early, but Bryson came over for dinner and we just did more playing. It’s hard to sleep when you’re having fun!
