Hawaii Day 2: The Zoo
We woke up on Wednesday ready for another beautiful day in Hawaii!
We didn’t bring a high chair. Needless to say, breakfast was a little interesting.
Cassie’s mom Darla made Gabe a summer pirate costume. He has refused to wear anything else unless he’s actually swimming.
We stopped by the beach for a bit while we waited for the zoo to open.
We stopped for crepes on our way to the zoo and the pirate had to check out the situation.
We finally made it to the zoo. Somehow this picture reminds me so much of Uncle Matt. It might help that I think we went to the zoo when he was about this age.
Josy definitely loved the giraffes the most.
The zoo was fun, but it was pretty hot. I expected some showers like the Phoenix zoo or even the Portland zoo, but there was nothing. It was just hot. And all Gabe wanted to see were the parrots. Unfortunately, they were at the end and there were some pretty strict rules we had to follow as far as what direction we could walk. So after walking around in the hot for a long time without lunch and without seeing any parrots, Gabe was done.
But then we got to the parrots and suddenly life was better.
After the zoo, we got lunch. I’m happy to report that the curls are back!
Josy was trying to spy his lunch...
After naps, we went to the beach with Uncle Nathan and Auntie Cassie.
Gabe managed to convince Uncle Nathan to play in the water even though it was about 6 and way too late for anyone who lives in Hawaii to be in the water.
And we got to see this guy!!
Gabe found a piece of old coral that he was convinced was a parrot head.
And after a fun day of playing, Gabe was so worn out that he couldn’t even eat dinner. In the car on the way home, he was asking piles of questions and Pat told him to stop asking questions. I told him the questions might be the only thing keeping him awake. Sure enough, he was asleep less than a minute later.
