Hawaii Day 4: The Dole Plantation

We decided that açaí bowls and smoothies were on the menu for breakfast. We figured that the boys could split one, but apparently that was more complicated than we’d pictured.

Once breakfast was done (and we dealt with changing the pirate pants after someone sat in fresh bird poop), we’re headed out to the Dole plantation.

After some Dole whip, we stood in a very long line to ride the train. The boys loved it, so it was worth the wait, but we did wait for awhile. Luckily there were some pineapple plants that Josy could run around in while we waited.

After the train, we stood in a very long line to go back into the main restaurant/gift shop in order to use the bathroom and almost left to get lunch elsewhere, but instead we stuck it out and got lunch there. I’m glad we did because then we had time to go to the pineapple maze. Also, it rained at the exact moments when we were sitting and eating lunch and then quit when we were in the maze, so that worked out well. I also wasn’t sure how the boys would handle the maze, but there were a lot of exits in case we needed to leave and there was a map on the back of the tickets...

Afterwards, we headed home and everyone got a nap in the car while driving (except for Pat, obviously...). Then we headed out to meet up with Nathan and Cassie for dinner. We had to wait for our table and, well, I could probably make an entire photo book of just pirate pictures on this trip...

And I got the two little boys for a few minutes.

After dinner we decided to get gelato. We’d been trying it since we got crepes there before the zoo and Gabe had been excited to get spinach and chocolate (also knows as chocolate chip mint, but for some reason he thought the picture was spinach and that was the one he wanted...). Unfortunately they were out of chocolate chip mint, but he was happy with his Oreo. Josy was also super excited about it, but he was so tired that he got halfway through it and had a complete meltdown that Pat finished it and took him back to the house to go to bed while Gabe and I took our time coming home. Apparently the nap in the car was not enough...
